EARLY ACCESS

3D Historic Court project was produced by Code of Arms as part of a student-led module working with a client to develop their ideas. Each member of the Code of Arms team was given a role.

STORY

We were to produce an animation within a 3D courthouse to depict a historic court case laid out by the client. This project was intended as a way of teaching students about important historic court cases in an engaging and exciting way. The plan for it will hopefully be used in many places as there are not many other products like this for law according to our client making this product a potentially unique tool to teach law students about the court cases that shaped the law of the world.

MY ROLE

I was tasked as the Technical Lead as my primary role.

RELEASE DATE

AutoCAD 3DS

For this project, AutoCAD 3DS was learnt along with how to create 3D models, animation, lighting and rendering.

REALISTIC LIGHTING

This project utilised 2 main sources of lighting, natural sunlight and artificial. Both sources need to have unique properties and colours.

TEAMWORK

A group of 4 people was in charge of creating and managing this project. Each team member had a different role. Mine was the technical lead. I was responsible for repository management, making sure everyone knew the process. Also enforcing the format and commit style, so it was consistent for the team.

KEYFRAME ANIMATION

Character models were downloaded and imported into the scene.  For this particular project, I manually keyframed the judge, the accused and the rest of the courtroom audience.

MID/HIGH-QUALITY RENDERING

This project needed to balance the time it would take to render fully and the quality of the render.

ORGANISATION

The organisation was vital for this project, as the team was working for a client and we would frequently have meetings to discuss the improvements and changes.
